Abnormal growth
QUESTION:
I found some sort of growth in my vagina and I'm not sure if it's normal or not. It seems to be blocking my menstrual flow sometimes and I have a hard time getting a tampon past it. I'm not sure what to do. I'm not even sure if it's abnormal.
What should I do?
ANSWER:
You did not state your age or whether you're a virgin or not. If you are having "a hard time getting a tampon past it", it is something fairly near the opening. My first non-medical guess is that it could be your hymen. My second guess is that your vagina is tight and you may be inserting the tampon at the wrong angle. Vaginal canals are not a straight tube from beginning to end, so you might be bumping into your pubic bone.
I am not a physician, but I strongly advise anyone concerned about their sexual anatomy to talk with a medical doctor. There is no reason to walk around with a fear. Get it checked!
