Adding fizz to sex

Adding fizz to sex

QUESTION:

I have heard that rubbing powdered Alka Seltzer on a girl's vagina can create a unique exciting experience for her due to the fizzing action. I would like to surprise my girlfriend with this enjoyable experience but I'm not sure if it is safe for her. Is it safe and are there any precautions we should be aware of?

ANSWER:

Robert W. Birch, Ph.D., ACS Certified Sexologist

I have several reactions to this, the first having to do with semantics. I would like to recommend that we refer to "a woman's genitals," rather than a "girl's vagina." Remember, the vagina is the internal canal, not the outer genitalia.

My second reaction is that we should always be a bit cautious in our attempts to "surprise" our partner, lest we do something that is disagreeable. I would recommend always asking permission before risking something dramatic.

Finally, it should be remembered that a woman's genitals naturally maintain a delicate chemical balance. I would not risk applying anything that might change that chemistry.
