Hello again. I'm afraid I cannot help you on that one as I do not live in the USA, I am from the UK. I don't really know much about the laws on such matters as my jobs have always been in small companies and have never worked in an office or large organization. I would imagine that most people are protected legally pretty much worldwide, as in the UK we do have industrial tribunal laws to protect workers from unfair dismissal. Is this subject something that you have experienced yourself? Are you in need of help?
I have experienced on my 1st job, but currently no, hopefully I do not need any help. I just want to know more about this and what are the legal practicies concerning it. But I know many people who has problems with it, and do not know if there is some law or anything that can help them in such situation. Besides, I am courious to know more about this topic in the western countries. On my 1st job I had problems with director, who turned the whole company against me. The reason was personal, and not professional. At the end, I found new job since I could not stand to be there any more. Hopefully, it is all behind me long time ago. What about the others? Do you have some experiences? Best regards,
Yes I have been a victim of "mobbing". I can think of no consistent word for it in the US. It is more like intimadation or psychological warfare.
When I worked at a very famous US bookstore, after seven years the current manager began bullying me. Nothing I could do was right. She had other workers spy on me and report back to her. No, I am not crazy this was a pattern with her. She always had to have one designated "victim". This was the person she turned into the enemy. She talked disrespectfully in front of my peers to me. She talked about me behind my back. Even went as far as to make it clear she wanted me gone. This she did to everyone of her managers eventually. This woman was a monster. She always had to have new assistants.
After I finally left my co-workers one by one all were treated the same way. Now the good news...by leaving now five years later I am making 25,000.00 more a year then I did working for her. Yes, I really mean $25,000.00 more. I have a nice adminstrative goverment position. I no longer work on my feet and get all holidays and the entire symmer off.
And you know what?!!!! She (the monster that is) is still there in the same old job. Yes the best revenge is living well.
Though the English word mob denotes a crowd, often in a destructive or hostile mood, German, Polish, Italian and several other European languages have adopted mobbing as a loanword to describe all forms of bullying including that by single persons.
