"Life is a great big canvas and you should throw all the paint on it you can."
- Danny Kaye
"I prepared excitedly for my departure, as if this journey had a mysterious significance. I had decided to change my mode of life. Til now, I told myself, you have only seen the shadow and been well content with it; now, I am going to lead you into the substance."
- Nikos Kazantzakis (Zorba the Greek)

Mix it up

We all have those weeks when days just seem to blend in. We think back and nothing we did stands out in anyway. These are fine from time to time, but if it starts stretching out into several weeks, or even a month, you just may be stuck in the rut of routine. Do you take the same old route to work or school everyday? Buy the same type of bread, cheese, or vegetables? Watch the same TV show like clockwork? While these little traditions may be comforting, they can also become so fixed in our lives that we don't even consider changing them. But if we stick to the same old stuff day in and out, what can possibly spark our imaginations, our sense of adventure or even our creativity?

Pay attention to the things you do automatically like a pre-programmed robot - even the small things like listening to the same old radio station. Sure, maybe you like it, but would it really hurt to switch it once in awhile? There's a whole world of other music, food, streets, experiences etc. waiting for you. The only way to mix things up a little is to make a conscious decision to do so. If you don't put in that effort, you'll most likely slip into the old habits without even realizing. You'll be amazed to see how throwing some variety into your life will make you feel more alive - and make the days so much more memorable. What are some things you can do differently TODAY?

Before judging a person's actions as wrong, ask yourself what would make someone behave that way.
